Picking an NFL team

I typically watch one or two NFL games a week, and yet, I don’t really have an NFL team. (I’m currently watching the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football as I write this.)

When I was little, I was a Cowboys fan. We’re taking about the Tom Landry, Danny White, Tony Dorsett era Cowboys. When Jerry Jones bought the team and got rid of all my favorite players and their legendary coach, I decided I was no longer a Cowboys fan. I briefly pulled for the Bears when I lived in Chicago and they won the Super Bowl, but I was never fully invested and then, they fired Ditka.

In the early 2000s, I had a fantasy football team each season. That meant that I pulled for players, not teams. Every year, I’d pick a new team and have a new rooting interest.

I’m a South Carolina Gamecocks fan,...

Fireflies baseball. A beautiful night to catch a minor league game.

A baseball game is taking place at a well-lit stadium with spectators in the stands and players on the field.

Watching Cubs v. Cardinals on Apple’s Friday Night Baseball, which is actually on Friday afternoon for July 4. PCA with a great diving catch in the first inning. ⚾️

If you want to watch two of the best teams in baseball, Cubs v. Tigers is MLB.com’s free game of the day.

Wrapped up a really long middle school lacrosse season. Ryan had a great season in goal and he’s continuing to learn the craft, but I am incredibly glad that we’re done for a little while.

A youth lacrosse game is underway, with a goalie and other players actively engaged near the goal.

The Cubs' offense is fun to watch this year. I’m glad they score lots of runs, because the team sure gives up lots of runs.

Spent today at Augusta National with no phone or digital devices. It’s nice to be forced to unplug for the day.

Today, we are thankful for protective lacrosse goalie gear.

Great game, Gamecocks! So much depth. Looking forward to the National Championship game on Sunday. 🏀🐓
