Working from a coffee shop this afternoon. Made progress on a project for the class I’m taking this semester, but ended up spending more time sketching and working on a new typeface.

I finally got around to setting up Universal Control on my MacBook Pro and my iPad. I’ve got to say, it’s pretty impressive. I’m not sure how often I will use it, but I can see some situations where it will be helpful.
Ruby is enjoying sunbeams this morning.
This kindergarten teacher will have a new playground next year. We moved two carloads of boxes to Liz’s new classroom at Piney Woods Elementary and more are temporarily at our house. Moving a classroom is a lot of work. I’m excited to see the awesome things she’ll do next year and beyond.
This is my fourth grader. He’s 10. I picked him up from school yesterday and he was so excited to tell me about his field trip and his upcoming play. We stopped and got ice cream. I took a quick picture.
At the same time I took this picture, a classroom of fourth graders was massacred in Texas.
One of Ryan’s earliest memories is running from a mall in a stampede where there was a reported shooting. He was young, but remembers being scared when he got separated from his sisters.
It’s time to do something about this. Gun violence is the number one killer of children. And more guns is not the solution. Easier access to guns is not a solution. Arming teachers is not a solution. You can’t make every school into a fortress. You think the problem is mental illness? Then how are you going to address that? We need action. More of the same is clearly not the answer. It’s time to act.
Proud of our Jilly. All As for Middle School. (7th and 8th grade.)
I helped my high schooler study for her Spanish exam … I took seven years of German and don’t speak Spanish. That was interesting. I hope it helped her. 😜
I took today off for a personal “retreat.” Working on planning for the rest of the year and thinking through what I want to accomplish with my side projects, grad school and more. I need to do this more often.
Tonight at Jillian’s middle school honors art show. I made her take a picture with her self portrait, but all of her stuff was great. So proud of Jilly.

Happy Mother’s Day, Lizzy. I couldn’t imagine navigating parenthood without you by my side. You are one in a million. Love you.
This kiddo went to Prom tonight.
I’m glad my kids love lacrosse, but I’m really excited that both Norah’s and Ryan’s seasons are over and our evenings and weekends return to normal for a few months.
Final lacrosse games of the season today. Ryan had fun in goal this season. Proud of how much he’s grown as a goalie.
📷 #7: Park. At a park today for the last 10U lacrosse game of the season.
📷 #6: Silhouette. Elton’s down there somewhere… from a few weeks ago.
📷 #5: Earth. Dried and cracked mud.
📷 #4: Thorny. A little bit literal with this one. The rose bush in our front yard. 🌹
📷 #3: Experimental. This week, I’ve been experimenting with charcoal grilling. I’ve always had a gas grill, but wanted a different experience so we purchased a Weber grill and a chimney starter. New recipes and grilling techniques. Having fun, but still learning.
